Long Story Short / Yuka Yoneyama Express Train

Long Story Short / Yuka Yoneyama Express Train

Red, historically emblematic of passion and energy, encompasses a spectrum of symbolic meanings across cultures, such as love, anger, seduction, power and violence.

Yuka Yoneyama recontextualizes this hue through grisaille techniques, transforming red into a medium that evokes a cool, cold, and inorganic impression, thus depicting everyday scenes with a strikingly subdued tone.

Yuka Yoneyama: Express Train is currently on view at 291 Grand Street, NY 10002. The exhibition runs until tomorrow (August 2nd) so if you haven’t seen it already, we urge you to make a trip to Chinatown to see this one in person.
